Radar therapy makes use of electromagnetic waves in the frequency band of microwaves, which develop in the treated tissues a heat that is transmitted in depth, obtaining an analgesic effect. The higher heating occurs in tissues with higher presence of water (eg. muscles and periarticular tissues), whereas the lower heating effect occurs in those with a low content of liquid (eg. adipose tissue). The radar therapy, besides thermal effect, causes vasodilatation that remains high for about 20 minutes after treatment and affects only capillaries and pre-capillary arteries. Therapeutic effects of radar therapy are muscularheating, analgesic and throphic effect which can be used to treat indications such as muscular contracture, osteoarthritis, post-traumatic pain, tendinitis, etc.
